Sustainability Stories:

Call for Stories: Sustainability in the Inland Northwest

As part of the conference, Sustainable Northwest, a nonprofit organization that promotes environmentally sound economic development, is working to increase awareness, understanding, and adoption of sustainable practices in Eastern Washington, Eastern Oregon, Idaho, Western Montana, Western Wyoming, Northern Utah, and Northern Nevada - an area broadly defined as the Inland Northwest.

We are now searching the Inland Northwest for successful examples of:

  • sustainable resource  management
  • responsible business  practices
  • environmental  stewardship
  • innovative market  connections
  • green building and renewable energy  projects
  • economic  development
  • rural community  revitalization
These examples will be compiled on Sustainable Northwest's website to foster regional networking and support for further innovation and development of sustainable practices in the Inland Northwest. To read the current collection of sustainability stories from the Inland Northwest visit: http://www.sustainablenorthwest.org/inlandnw/stories.php

Selected stories from this collection will be highlighted at the Sustainability in the Inland Northwest conference that will be held at the Grove Hotel in Boise, March 2-3, 2005. This conference will connect ideas and people to encourage increased effectiveness in implementing sustainable practices in the Inland Northwest. Success stories and best practices chosen from the Sustainable Northwest website will provide on-the-ground examples for conference participants.

**If you know of an individual or organization practicing sustainability in the Inland Northwest and you think their efforts should be known, we want to hear about it!
